SolarEdge Home Battery 400V review

The Australian datasheet specifies 9.7 kWh usable at 100% depth of discharge. This is energy stored in one battery, before the installed inverter's losses and any reserve you keep for outages. Its 5 kW continuous and 7.5 kW ten-second backup peak describe battery output on the DC side. The paired inverter sets the household AC limit, and temperature can reduce battery power.

Expansion is by whole batteries. The datasheet allows up to three per inverter, except for SExK-AUB installations, where it allows only one battery and one inverter per site. Do not apply the three-battery headline to that three-phase pairing.

The documented backup path uses a compatible single-phase Home Hub inverter and Home Backup Interface. Your installer must connect the selected circuits and enable backup during commissioning; battery installation alone is insufficient. The Australian guide includes both full-home and selected-load designs, so ask which your quote supplies and what simultaneous loads fit its AC output.

The current Australian SExK-AUB FAQ explicitly says that adding this battery provides no backup. Some earlier SolarEdge three-phase models cannot accept it at all. Confirm the complete inverter part number before treating an existing SolarEdge system as battery-ready.

Wall or floor mounting is supported, with the floor stand purchased separately. Wireless SolarEdge Home Network connects battery and inverter; the inverter may need its matching plug-in. This local link does not replace the Monitoring Platform connection required by the warranty.

The Australian BAT-10K1P warranty we fully verified is revised December 2024. A January 2026 400V document is also indexed, but we could not verify its complete Australian scope. Have SolarEdge or your supplier attach the applicable Australian revision to the quote rather than relying on a generic ten-year summary.

The verified Australian terms cover workmanship, materials and energy capacity for ten years, with 70% energy retention. Unlimited cycles apply to the defined standard solar uses: self-consumption, time of use, backup and SolarEdge-managed services. Third-party management instead limits the battery warranty to 26 MWh of throughput. The document does not classify individual VPPs; obtain written confirmation of how your intended provider is treated.

The normal start is installation recorded in the Monitoring Portal or twelve months after shipment from SolarEdge, whichever is earlier. The document gives an installation-date start for batteries installed in NSW and registered under the Peak Demand Reduction Scheme. This exception does not establish your eligibility for that scheme.

An approved SolarEdge inverter and Monitoring Platform connection are required throughout the term. SolarEdge says it cannot honour the limited warranty without the portal connection, and gives no numerical offline grace period. Normal temperature terms require 0–40°C for at least 95% of the term and −10–50°C otherwise; the same NSW scheme exception allows −10–50°C throughout.

Cover can transfer with ownership if the battery stays installed in place. The document excludes on-site repair, removal and reinstallation labour costs unless agreed otherwise in writing. Ask who pays for a service visit. Australian Consumer Law rights remain additional.

Support evidence checked 21 September 2026. SolarEdge says it has operated globally since 2006 on its corporate page; the Australian Business Register records SolarEdge Technologies (Australia) Pty Ltd from 27 August 2013. That tenure does not prove battery reliability. The December 2024 manufacturer Energy Bank/Home Battery warranty, in a readable installer-hosted mirror, permits on-site or depot repair, equivalent replacement, or a credit note based on lost capacity. For an RMA, the buyer pays return shipment; SolarEdge pays delivery of the repaired/replacement unit and customs where its country coverage applies. Labour, travel, accommodation, removal and reinstallation are excluded unless SolarEdge agrees beforehand in writing. Australian Consumer Law rights remain separate.

SolarEdge publishes specific installer-closure guidance: review remaining cover, engage another installer, use its preferred-installer directory, and optionally buy a SolarEdge system health report. This is a documented route, although it may create diagnosis or labour costs and does not guarantee that a new installer will accept the job.

Public owner-review pages contain both satisfactory system reports and complaints about support access and warranty handling. The ProductReview listing is self-selected, mixes inverters and batteries across generations, and cannot establish a Home Battery 400V failure rate. No controlled Australian long-duration study for BAT-10K1PS0B-x2 was verified. The practical evidence therefore supports checking the exact warranty revision, monitoring-platform ownership and replacement-installer access; it does not support a comparative reliability ranking.

SolarEdge's Australian product page directs buyers to its manufacturer distributor route, without an installed price. Get the battery, inverter, Backup Interface, mounting, monitoring connection and switchboard work itemised. Require separate rebate figures and confirmation for the exact proposed installation; a live product page does not establish stock or eligibility.

The useful next step is an installer check of your existing inverter's complete model number, firmware and monitoring connection. Have them mark which circuits will work during an outage and show the backup setting at handover. That resolves more than a battery capacity comparison alone.

Keep the supplied battery suffix and Australian warranty with the commissioning records. This review follows the BAT-10K1P model and BAT-10K1PS0B-x2 Australian datasheet; it does not cover SolarEdge's separate 48V battery. Before VPP enrolment, settle both the provider's exact inverter compatibility and the manufacturer's third-party-management warranty classification.
