Privacy, in plain language.
You can browse CompareVolt without an account or a quote request. This page explains the information involved in visiting the site, using its filters or contacting us by email or, when available, through the form.
Using the comparison
CompareVolt is operated by an Australian sole trader under the CompareVolt name. The contact address below reaches the operator responsible for this site.
We do not ask for a street address, phone number, electricity bill or account login to use the comparison. There is no quote-request or lead-submission form: when available, the contact form described below is the only one that sends us a message, and the site does not send your contact details to energy providers.
The battery catalogue puts your search text, brand and filter choices in the URL so the same view can be reopened or shared. The VPP comparison also puts your selected state and battery family in its URL. That address may appear in browser history and can reach the hosting service when you load it. Avoid entering personal information into the search box.
Your VPP shortlist is kept only in the current page and resets when you reload or leave it. The comparison does not create a saved household profile or use browser local storage. Analytics cookies, when enabled, are described below.
The battery size calculator works entirely in your browser. Your postcode, electricity use or household size, solar size or panel count, usage split and backup reserve are kept only in the open page: they are not put in the page address, sent to us or stored by the site.
Cookies and analytics
Google Analytics is used when it is enabled for the site, to understand which pages people read. It uses cookies and processes information about visits, browsers, devices and approximate location. Google may process that information outside Australia.
Our page-view events include the page title and the page address without search parameters or fragments. The first event has no referring page; later page changes use only the previous page address on this site, also without search parameters or fragments.
Our analytics setup requires Google’s automatic tracking of forms, outbound links, scrolls and other interactions to be switched off before Analytics is enabled. The page-view limits above do not prevent Google from receiving technical connection or device information.
To prevent Google Analytics from receiving visit information, use a browser tool that blocks its script or requests, or Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on where supported. Blocking cookies alone may not stop all measurement. The comparison works without Analytics.

Hosting and external links
The hosting and content-delivery service processes requests needed to deliver and protect the site. These can include your IP address, requested URL, browser information and request time. Hosting logs are separate from the Analytics events described above.
When you open a manufacturer, provider or government link, you leave CompareVolt. That site handles your visit under its own privacy policy and may receive information your browser sends with the request.
When you contact us
The contact form asks for your email address, a topic and your message. Your name and a link to the page you are writing about are optional. If you email us instead, we receive your email address, message and any attachments through our email service.
Form messages are delivered to our inbox by Resend, a third-party email service, which may process them outside Australia.
When you open the contact page, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a person is using the form. To do that it processes information about your browser, device and connection, including your IP address, and Cloudflare may process that information outside Australia. Turnstile does not run on other pages.
To limit repeated submissions, the site’s server briefly holds your IP address and a one-way fingerprint of the message in its working memory. They are not saved to a database.
The form sends nothing to Google Analytics. Sending a message does not add you to a mailing list, and we do not pass your details to energy providers, manufacturers or installers.
We use your message to respond and to investigate the issue you raise, and keep correspondence in our inbox only as long as needed to respond and deal with that issue. Resend keeps its own delivery records under its own retention practices.
A page link and a description of the issue are usually enough. Please leave out account numbers, bills and other personal details that are not needed to check a published fact.
