SAJ B2-10.0-HV1 review

This review covers B2-10.0-HV1: two BU2-5.0-HV1 modules with a BC2-HV1 controller. HV5 and B2S are different variants. SAJ says the HV1/HV5 suffix identifies different cell manufacturers, so a similar enclosure is insufficient to identify your battery.

The current Australian datasheet gives 10.0 kWh rated and 9.6 kWh usable energy at 96% depth of discharge. The current regulator-hosted CEC data agrees, while SAJ's product page still advertises 90%. Confirm the supplied system's settings and usable capacity in writing. The battery figure does not include inverter losses or energy reserved for outages.

The 6.144 kW rating is battery-side power, not guaranteed AC appliance output. SAJ lists 30 A maximum charge and discharge current; output also depends on battery voltage and the inverter. Choose the complete system around the appliances you want to run together.

For later expansion, the manual recommends adding a matching battery cluster in parallel and advises against mixing old and new modules. Have SAJ confirm the inverter, controller and expansion arrangement before buying on the assumption that another module can simply be stacked on later.

SAJ's November 2025 compatibility declaration names this battery alongside both single-phase and three-phase H2 inverters. That leaves a choice of system designs; it does not give the battery a universal phase rating or backup output.

For example, H2-5K-T2 is a three-phase inverter with a separate BACK-UP connection. The installer must specify the circuits and phases it will supply, their simultaneous load and starting demands. Its manual gives a 180 V minimum battery input, just above this stack's 179.2 V lower operating limit. The compatibility declaration lists both models, but does not explain that boundary: ask SAJ to confirm the intended pairing and low-charge operation rather than assume every published battery limit is available through the inverter.

Have a qualified installer select a sheltered position; the manual recommends protection from direct sun, rain and snow despite the IP65 rating. Charging is specified from 0°C to 50°C, with discharging from −10°C to 50°C. Confirm the commissioning, monitoring and reserve settings at handover.

SAJ's Australian standard cover ends at ten years from commissioning or ten years and six months from shipment, whichever is earlier. Its separate capacity promise retains 60% of usable capacity under specified test conditions until ten years from commissioning or the throughput limit, whichever comes first.

That limit is 3.06 MWh of DC throughput per usable kWh. Using the datasheet's 9.6 kWh gives 29.376 MWh DC, rounded above; this is a calculation, not an AC energy guarantee. Frequent cycling can reach the limit sooner.

Installation must finish within six months of shipment, with professional commissioning and compatible equipment. Report qualifying failures or warnings within 30 days of appearance. Keep purchase, installation and ownership-transfer records; relocation needs SAJ permission. Australian Consumer Law rights remain.

The warranty does not expressly address VPP participation. Obtain written clarification for your intended program and its use of the battery before enrolling.

Support evidence checked 21 September 2026. SAJ’s company page says it was established in 2005 and later opened an Australian subsidiary; the locations page names SAJ Digital Energy Australia. That is a visible local route, not evidence of response time or reliability.

The B2 warranty V4.0-2-1 starts claims with the installer/distributor and gives direct SAJ contact, but no distinct installer-closure handover. For an accepted defect SAJ chooses repair or replacement and pays its approved repair/replacement costs; a discontinued model may receive an equivalent or market-price refund. Those approved costs are not defined as covering owner travel, removal/reinstallation or every freight charge. Obtain the replacement technician and cost allocation in writing; Australian Consumer Law rights remain separate.

The completed ARENA/ITP test program did not test this B2 configuration. No B2-10.0-HV1 entry appeared in the ACCC, CEC or Energy Safe Victoria searches, and no bounded model-specific Australian owner/installer sample was verified. These evidence gaps do not establish a fault.

SAJ's Australian page offers a manufacturer product enquiry, without a fixed installed price. Ask for an itemised quote covering the modules, controller, inverter, metering, backup work, installation and GST. The live documents establish current documentation, not local stock or delivery timing.

Compare complete packages in the solar-battery catalogue. If keeping an existing solar inverter is the priority, ask installers to compare an AC-coupled alternative; if expansion matters, compare the permitted future configuration and its cost. Neither an approval listing nor a family VPP listing guarantees your exact installation's rebate or program eligibility.

Bring overnight consumption and an essential-appliance list to the installer. A useful quote should reconcile SAJ's capacity figures, document the inverter pairing and identify the outage loads. Obtain the shipment date and any future expansion design before signing: those details can change the value of an otherwise similar battery package.
