LG RESU requires a SolarEdge inverter. One battery per address, site export limit of at least 5 kW, hardwired or Wi-Fi internet (SIM-only not accepted), dual-channel meter for AC-coupled installs.

Before you join

An AGL electricity plan is required and an existing customer may retain their plan. Exact VPP credits come from the Welcome Letter; SA published retention amounts conflict. BYOB has no exit fee. Grid charging remains billed at the retained retail rates, and event-credit/ordinary feed-in treatment needs confirmation. Setup or customer-specific fees must be checked; bundled offers have different terms.

AGL/Evergen may charge, discharge or hold the battery. The contract requires a maximum backup setting at or below 20%; its discharge protection refers to the applicable product-specific usable-energy-storage level, so a universal 20% floor is not assumed. Grid charge/export must be enabled, with fixed export at least 5 kW and an eligible smart meter. No per-event opt-out; leave with 30 days notice and no BYOB exit fee. The term renews every 12 months; government-credit rights from participation are assigned to AGL.

Exact battery/inverter combinations require the official SmartShift Compatibility Checker, including SA enrolment approval. The current official compatibility list (updated 8 April 2026) also covers 1KOMMA5, Neovolt, Enphase (with an IQ 7 or IQ 8 inverter), GivEnergy, Fronius Reserva (with a GEN24 series inverter), Hive and REA Power systems, none flagged as beta on that list. Brand inclusion alone is not installation approval.

Before you join

The standard public subscription is $25/month. The current Detailed Information Sheet controls customer-specific tariffs and fees; technology/API services, payment methods and distributor service work may add charges. The SA RSR reference tariff charges 0.75c/kWh ex GST above an 11 kWh/day allowance pooled across each bill period. Indicative scenarios require confirmation of the matching standard tariff and fees; profiles crossing that allowance need bill dates and action chronology. Amber's Market Electricity Supply Contract states "we will not charge you an exit fee" and "Amber does not charge any additional fee for cancelling this contract, either during the cooling off period or at any other time"; no setup/establishment fee is stated for the retail contract or the SmartShift Contract.

SmartShift automates charge/discharge against wholesale prices and offers app controls where supported. Its published direct-discharge floor is 25%; a higher manufacturer reserve takes priority. Current terms permit temporary overrides during extreme market or weather events, require at least 90% internet accessibility, prohibit competing optimisation, and limit Amber-directed cycling to twice per 24 hours. Cancellation requires at least 14 days written notice and control may continue during unenrolment. Technology/API fees may apply when notified.

GloBird lists FoxESS as a supported VPP brand; confirm eligibility of the exact battery and inverter combination with GloBird before joining. The VPP add-on also supports Solis with Dyness and WHES. Sigenergy systems must use the GloBird app. The self-managed ZEROHERO plan (without remote control) works with any battery brand.

Must be a GloBird customer on the ZEROHERO battery plan; the VPP itself is an optional add-on with no signup or ongoing fees. For new signups from 1 July 2026, the official scheduling page gives the free daily grid-charge window as 12pm–3pm; plan fact sheets and welcome-pack terms govern the exact retail schedule.

The VPP add-on is optional: while enrolled, GloBird may remotely charge and discharge the battery and its control right prevails, and credit rates and windows can be changed with notice. You can opt in or out at any time via customer service; without the add-on, ZEROHERO is fully self-managed. No lock-in, no exit fees.

Origin publishes a closed list of eligible battery and inverter models for Battery Lite and says a battery absent from it is likely ineligible. The Battery Lite battery list also names 1KOMMA5, Ambrion, Energizer, ESY Sunhome, Eveready, FranklinWH, GivEnergy, Goanna, Hive, Neovolt, SAJ and SolaX, which are not in this catalogue. Eligibility is model-specific and the inverter must be listed too. AlphaESS is listed for Battery Lite in its own right; the separate partner offer is installed by Solar Battery Group. Minimums: 5 kWh battery, 5 kW operational solar, smart meter and reliable Wi-Fi; no life-support at the premises; can't be in another VPP.

Before you join

Any Origin residential plan — no plan change needed. No minimum term (leave on 20 business days' notice per Main Terms clause 10.1(a)); claiming the NSW battery incentive locks in a 3-year minimum, and Origin-installed-battery variants carry 60-month terms with pro-rata exit fees. The Origin Loop VPP Battery Terms and Conditions define an Early Termination Fee only for the Monthly Credit Offer (Schedule 3) and Origin Installed Battery + Upfront Discount Offer (Schedule 4); Schedule 2 (BYO/Battery Lite, this offer) has no termination clause or Early Termination Fee of its own, so termination follows the fee-free Main Terms clause 10.1(a). A current customer offer/Welcome Letter must confirm any other fees, retained tariff and event/feed-in treatment before a numerical comparison.

Origin may remotely charge, discharge or hold the battery at any time and requires it to be controllable at least 90% of each month; it aims to leave about 20% charge (Powerwall 2 is guaranteed 20%) and never discharges during blackouts. No per-event opt-out on Battery Lite. The Origin app shows when and how much was discharged.

'Most models' by Sungrow and Alpha ESS. Minimums: 5 kWh usable battery, 5 kW solar, 3 kW inverter, smart meter and broadband with a spare Ethernet port. Growatt, GoodWe, Fronius and LG integrations are register-your-interest. A separate Green.com.au VPP variant ($300/yr + 40c/kWh overnight) exists for Green.com.au-installed systems.

Before you join

Official WATTBANK page says the add-on is supplied with Diamond's readily available market offer in the customer's region; any discounts or other benefits of that market offer continue to apply. SA reference retail schedule (not nationally assumed): Diamond Everyday single-rate no controlled load is $1.8005/day, 41.91c/kWh import and 3.10c/kWh export to a non-ABN household, with GST included in import and supply charges, effective 1 July 2026 (source sapn-current-retail). The $68 establishment fee is waived for new systems financed with Plenti. The official bill description retains ordinary feed-in credits and adds the WATTBANK credits separately. The indicative comparison uses only the verified SA single-rate Block 1 scope, including the conditional 2% supply/usage discount for on-time payment and email bills.

Diamond dispatches via its installed VPP controller (which remains Diamond's property) and may charge from the grid, shift usage times and limit excess solar. The provider does not publish a fixed reserve percentage; capacity is preserved for household use at Diamond's discretion. No dispatch app or per-event opt-out — the add-on can be cancelled at any time with no exit fee.
