How we chose these options

How we compared

Reviewed

Evidence basis
Australian purchase and manufacturer product pages checked 12 October 2026. Earlier full-review evidence dates from 10 October. Specification research, with no hands-on tests.
Coverage
Four brands and four distinct roles: weather protection, lightweight tent lighting, USB-C table lighting and decorative warm light. Australian purchase pages checked.
Limitations
A focused Australian shortlist, not a whole-market ranking or a claim that every model is the newest. No measured performance, endurance or reliability comparison. Prices are dated observations; original full-review date retained.

Choose the kind of light your campsite needs

Ledlenser ML6 suits weather protection, Black Diamond Moji R+ suits a compact tent light, Coleman Classic Recharge 400L suits simple camp-table lighting, and Barebones Railroad Bronze suits warm ambience. Choose the role before comparing lumens. A smaller hanging light can be more useful in a tent than a heavier decorative lantern.

The refresh compares Australian buying pages from BCF, Ledlenser AU, Black Diamond AU and atcProducts, checked 12 October 2026. Fuel lanterns, headlamps and strip lights serve other jobs. These remain current buying options; the comparison does not establish that each is the newest model or that advertised runtime is delivered at constant brightness.

Charging, weather limits and local warranty

Ledlenser ML6 — register the warranty

Ledlenser’s AU page specifies IP66, 280g and Micro-USB charging. Its 750lm maximum is a short boost mode; the advertised maximum runtime does not apply at that output. The range page uses USB-C wording that conflicts with the model page: confirm the delivered revision’s connector and supplied cable before ordering.

Warranty terms give two years, extended to seven when registered within 12 weeks; rechargeable batteries have two years. Submit the Australian warranty-assessment request with proof of purchase. The terms make sending costs the buyer’s responsibility.

Barebones Railroad Bronze — protect the glass and battery

The exact atcProducts LIV-280 offer lists the lantern, Barebones battery and USB cable. Barebones AU specifies the 4400mAh pack, 3000K light and one-year limited warranty. This is a camp-table choice, with no established IP rating; prolonged wet exposure can cause rust.

Use the supplied charging cable and the manufacturer’s battery instructions. Do not remove the battery’s protective covering. Replacement glass and the specific battery are separate purchases. Start a purchase claim with atcProducts and confirm return freight. Barebones AU’s policy excludes its refund or replacement route for purchases made elsewhere; its direct-store warranty terms therefore do not establish atcProducts coverage.

Black Diamond Moji R+ — small, with an older connector

The selected Black AU variant is BD6206850002ALL1. Black Diamond specifies 78.8g without cord, 200lm maximum, an integrated 1500mAh battery, Micro-USB input and IPX4. Its small body and hanging loop offer a useful tent-light fit; neither mass nor brightness proves better illumination than a larger table lantern.

AU lighting warranty is three years for the original end user. Direct-store buyers complete the warranty request before returning the product and retain the receipt; return postage can fall to the buyer. Confirm the charging lead and USB power supply with the exact order.

Coleman Classic Recharge 400L — simple controls and USB-C

BCF’s Australian kit lists a 2600mAh built-in battery and USB to USB-C lead. Coleman’s specification page identifies three levels: 400, 150 and 50lm, with claimed runtimes of five, thirteen and forty hours respectively. This is a lantern model, not a 400-litre capacity label. We have not measured its light output or battery runtime.

The AU seller lists IPX4 and a three-year limited warranty. A mains USB supply is not listed as included. Use BCF’s faulty-product return route with the receipt for local purchase support.

Plan charging and mounting together

Pick a stable tabletop or a secure hanging point, with enough clearance for the whole lantern. Match the charging cable to the USB supply you carry. A USB-C socket alone does not prove universal USB-C Power Delivery behaviour; use the manufacturer’s specified cable and supply.

Treat maximum brightness and longest runtime as different operating points. Protection ratings also describe different tests: IPX4 does not establish dust protection or immersion resistance. These documents cannot establish measured durability, charging time or how the light falls across your campsite.

Check the exact colour and complete charging kit

Use the named store link to match the model, colour, battery and included cable. Obtain the delivered tax-inclusive amount and confirm the warranty route. Keep the light’s instructions and check the exact model against the Australian recall register. A retailer listing or a warranty period does not establish recall clearance or battery lifespan.
