How we chose these options
How we compared
Reviewed
- Evidence basis
- Australian purchase and manufacturer product pages checked 12 October 2026. Retained manuals and battery-safety research were checked 10–11 October. Specification research, with no hands-on tests.
- Coverage
- Four exact current Australian purchase options: a petrol-only pack, USB-C PD kit, wall/car-charger kit and workshop dock. GOOLOO excluded where a clear offer was not established.
- Limitations
- A focused Australian shortlist, not a whole-market ranking or a claim that every model is the newest. No measured performance, endurance or reliability comparison. Prices are dated observations; original full-review date retained.
Match the starter to the vehicle and charging routine
Projecta IS920C is the compact petrol-only choice, NOCO GBX45 suits a USB-C PD charging setup, iTechworld JS80 includes wall and car chargers, and Projecta IS1500 suits a workshop dock. First confirm the vehicle’s battery chemistry and permitted jump-start method. An engine-size claim or a large peak-amp number is not proof of a successful start in your conditions.
The purchase refresh checked AutoPro, Supercheap Auto and Australian manufacturer stores on 12 October 2026. The four retained kits differ in vehicle limits, supplied charging equipment and maintenance routine. We have not tested starts, cold-weather performance or storage endurance.

What each package changes about the purchase
Projecta IS920C — petrol-only means petrol-only
The current IS920C page states 600g and a limit of 6L petrol. A diesel rating shown for the larger IS1220C cannot be transferred to this model. The retained exact-model manual restricts starting use to automotive lead-acid batteries. The AU product kit includes a USB-C lead and 12V USB adapter, without a listed mains adapter.
Its manual and product page disagree on storage limits and charging maintenance: follow the supplied manual and ask Projecta which instructions govern your revision. Keep it dry. The product states two years’ warranty; Projecta claims start with the original seller and receipt, with initial return costs falling to the customer.
NOCO GBX45 — add the appropriate USB-C power supply
NOCO’s technical page specifies 12V lead-acid starting, 31Wh, a 6.5L petrol / 4L diesel engine limit and 0.98kg. USB-C input and output reach 60W under the stated profiles. Those engine ratings are manufacturer claims; they do not establish comparative starting power.
Supercheap Auto’s item 682621 lists clamps, USB-C cable, bag and twelve months’ warranty. A wall power supply is not included: add a compatible 60W USB-C PD adapter if you need the maximum charging rate. Start a local purchase claim through Supercheap Auto returns, keeping proof of purchase. The photograph shows the starter and clamps, not a bundled mains adapter.
iTechworld JS80 — check the manual and charging kit
The Australian single kit lists wall and vehicle USB-C chargers, clamps, USB-C cable, a 12V socket adapter and a soft bag. The included wall and car chargers are each listed at 1.5A; they do not establish 60W charging from this kit. The starter supports up to 60W PD input/output, so maximum-rate input needs a compatible 60W PD supply, bought separately. Engine limits are claimed up to 10L petrol / 8L diesel. The 1.3kg unit figure differs from the 2.7kg package mass.
The retained user guide describes 12V starting and periodic recharge checks. Permitted vehicle-battery chemistry still needs confirmation with iTechworld and the vehicle instructions. The current AU product page states one year’s warranty; use its Australian support contact with purchase and fault details. Obtain current return-freight and assessment terms, because the separate detailed help policy could not be reopened during this refresh.
Projecta IS1500 — make room for the dock
AutoPro’s exact EL27346 offer names part IS1500 and its docking station. Projecta’s model specification and box list identify the starter, 15V 1A mains adapter, charging dock and manual; confirm those inclusions in the AutoPro order. The retained manual limits it to 12V lead-acid vehicle starting and describes keeping it on its dock between uses. Its rain warning matters even though the product page advertises IP65: provide a dry dock location.
Projecta rates it for up to 8L petrol / 6L diesel and states two years’ warranty. Its 4kg listing figure does not identify a unit-versus-package basis, so do not compare that directly with the JS80 unit mass. Start a purchase claim with AutoPro and the receipt; it may send electrical goods to the supplier for assessment and charge freight if no fault is found. Projecta’s warranty conditions also require the original seller and proof of purchase.
Peak amps do not decide the right kit
Ask whether the starter is permitted for the exact battery, engine and vehicle. Peak current, current at the clamps and engine-size ratings describe different things. This guide does not provide an override, flat-battery recovery procedure or a guarantee of starts per charge.
Choose a maintenance routine you can follow and the supplied charging equipment you need. A dock, vehicle USB supply and separate wall PD adapter are different purchases. If you need long-duration appliance power, use the Devices directory to compare a power station instead of assuming a jump starter’s socket provides equivalent energy.
Check safe storage and the supplied instructions
Use the manufacturer and vehicle instructions, inspect the kit before a trip and keep it away from heat. The ACCC battery guidance warns against hot-vehicle storage. Check the exact revision and clamps against the Australian recall register; earlier brand-name searches do not clear a serial number or batch.
